The Plants vs. Zombies series has been around for a long time, giving players great tower defence games. But which one is the best?
Plants vs. Zombies has been a popular series for a long time. It was first played on mobile phones in 2009, where players had to keep zombies from eating their garden. Their only defence against the undead was the variety of plants they could grow on their front yard.
Since then, the franchise has become not only the main series of tower defence games, but also a third-person shooter with the equally famous Garden Warfare. Since there are so many Plants vs. Zombies games, we’ve put all of them in order.
Plants Vs. Zombies: Adventures
Plants vs. Zombies: Adventures, which is only available on Facebook, was the first game on the list. It had different game modes, like “Town Building,” which let players buy buildings and decorations while growing plants. In “Road Trip” mode, these plants were used to protect cars.
As with many other Facebook games, the last mode was called “Brainball mode,” and it let players attack another player’s town to collect brains. If they had gathered enough, they would get Gems as a prize. Unfortunately, this game was taken off of Facebook in 2014. This means that players can no longer play against each other and enjoy the different style of art from the normal franchise.
Plants Vs. Zombies: Battle For Neighborville
Even though it’s low on the list, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville was well liked by players, especially those who liked the original Garden Warfare series. Players could choose between two sides, like the popular Plants, who had some old favourites and some new additions, or the zombies, who had their own set of characters to learn.
Gamers could use their skills in different game types, but the PvP mode was the most popular one. Fans of the series also loved the intense and funny single-player storyline in Battle For Neighborville, which was part of the game’s single-player mode.
Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare
As the first game that came out of the Plants vs. Zombies series. Garden Warfare was brave enough to move away from the tower defence genre and make another fighting game where plants and zombies fought on a different kind of ground. In this third-person game, players can choose from different classes on both the Plant and Zombie sides, each of which has its own pros and cons against the other.
Then, these figures are taken to the garden to fight on different maps. But there’s more. Besides the normal PvP mode, there are also other modes in which plants work with other players to defend their garden from AI zombies. This meant that players always had something to do.
Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2
Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 built on its predecessor and fixed problems that many players had with the first game to make it even better. By giving each side new classes, the game types that players were used to felt different because they were playing against new people.
In the Plants vs. Zombies series, this is the first time that the plants have won against the zombies. This meant that in many of the co-op game modes, the zombies had to try to fight off the plants that were coming at them. This third-person shooter has, once again, a great Player vs. Player mode on all-new maps with a lot more ways to customise it.
Plants Vs. Zombies: Heroes
Plants vs. Zombies: Heroes is a collectible card game that was also made by PopCap Games. Tunnel Rush game is only available on Mobile right now; there are no other platforms for it. However, that didn’t stop many players from getting hooked on making their perfect deck.
Players can choose to play as either the Plants or the Zombies, just like in Garden Warfare, as long as they have the right cards in their collection. Players were free to play Plants vs. Zombies: Heroes’s single-player mode, where they could face tough opponents, find new characters, or test their decks against other live players.
Plants Vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time
The original main series games that made the Plants vs. Zombies series so popular in the first place are, of course, more famous than the spin-offs.The second tower defence game to come out in 2013 was Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time.
This game could only be played on Mobile, but fans of the series still loved it because they could add new Plants to their army. Not to mention that there are new ways to give them Plant Food so they can protect their lawn from the funny zombie army, which also has some new characters.

Overall, the original Plants vs. Zombies game, which came out in 2009, is by far the best game in the whole series. Plants vs. Zombies came out on a lot of different devices, like PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, but most people played it on their phones.
This simple game was the first tower defence game that many mobile players played. They kept being amazed by how detailed the game’s art was and how many different Plants were already available to use in the first game. Even though the game has added more games and characters, it is still one of the best.
