The ultimate Mardi Himal Trek Itinerary, trails, highlights and preparation tips

Mardi Himal Trek, one of the popular trekking destinations for most Nepali and foreign adventurers is considered as the hidden treasure of the Annapurna region. Mardi Himal (5587 m) is the mountain that is seated in the lap of Mount Machhapuchhre.

As you embark on this trek, you will find yourself surrounded by mountains, forests, rivers, and other natural wonders. Daily Itinerary of the trek:

Day 1: Arrive at Kathmandu (1400 m)

Upon reaching Tribhuvan International Airport, you will meet one of our representatives who will drive you to the hotel. You can take some rest and at night set out of the hotel to explore the happening night street of Kathmandu. After that, you will get back to your hotel, have some dinner, and spend the night.

Day 2: Sightseeing at Kathmandu (1400 m)

On the second day, after your breakfast, you will go for sightseeing. You will meet your tour guide who will take you to different attractions of this city such as Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath Stupa.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara (822 m)

On the third day of the journey, you will have breakfast and leave the busy streets of Kathmandu to get closer to the mountains and hills. After a long journey of 7-8 hours, you will finally reach Pokhara. You can get some rest for yourself and in the evening you can relax by the side of the lake and enjoy the view it offers.

Day 4: Drive to Kande and trek to Pitam Deurali (2100m)

On this day,  you will start the journey via a drive from Pokhara to Kande which will take around 45 minutes to 1 hour. From Kande, you will start your trek to reach Pitam Deurali on this day. It will take 4-5 hours of trek to reach Pitam Deurali from Kande. Pitam Deurali is a small village located to the south of the famous Annapurna range. Spend the night at Pitam Deurali.

Day 5: Pitam Deurali to Low Camp (2950 m)

On the fifth day, you will have some breakfast at Pitam Deurali with an amazing view of the sunrise. After this, you will slowly trek upwards to reach Low Camp. On the way, you will come across Sanjay Deurali, Lovely Hill, and forest camp. You will take a break at the forest camp and again trek upwards. After a total of a 5-6 hour trek, you will reach your destination for the day which is Low Camp. You will have a local dinner and then spend the night there to get some rest.

Day 6:  Low camp to High Camp (3550 m)

You will require 4-5 hours of trek to get to high camp from low camp. You will start your day early and walk through enticing forests to get to the high camp. After a total of 4-5 hours of trek, you will reach your destination for the day which is high camp. You will enjoy the starry night in the clear sky, have your dinner and spend the night there.

Day 7: High Camp to Base Camp (4500 m) and trek down to Siding (1800 m)

Early wake up on this day to reach Mardi Viewpoint for sunrise view. After 5-6 hours of trek from High Camp, reach Base Camp (4500m) with breathtaking views of Mardi Himal. Trek down to Siding Village and ride back to Pokhara (2-3 hours).

Day 8: Drive back to Kathmandu (1400 m)

After having an early breakfast in Pokhara, get ready to head back to Kathmandu. After a 7-8 hour ride, you will reach Kathmandu. families and relatives. You will be provided with the farewell dinner from our side. After dinner, you will get back to your hotel room and spend the night.

Day 9: Final Departure

You will be provided with a local breakfast early in the morning. You will be driven towards the Tribhuvan International Airport by one of our representatives. We will make sure that you reach the airport without any sort of difficulties.

Preparation Tips for Mardi Himal Trek

When you are opting for a trek, you will need to prepare yourselves for any kind of uncertainty that might arise on the way. Below mentioned are some of the tips that are recommended for the Mardi Himal Trek:

  1. Pack essential clothing

Mardi Himal Trek is just a four-five day trek for which you need not pack unnecessarily. Pack two pairs of trekking shirts and pants.  Both trekking pants and t-shirts should have moisture-wicking properties to help keep the body dry and comfortable.

  1. Take comfortable shoes and socks

Taking comfortable shoes is important for the trek. Comfortable shoes will help alleviate foot pain and make the journey easier. Choose the kind of shoes that are specially designed for the trek. Similarly, carry four- five pairs of comfortable socks as well.

  1. Pack First Aid Kit

During the trek, any kind of unforeseen circumstances might take place for which you have to be prepared from before. You should pack a kit that includes essentials like paracetamol, medicines for altitude sickness, band-aids, Dettol, hansaplast, and so on.

  1. Take cash with you

ATM and credit cards don’t work in the rural area, therefore, you should take cash along with you. You might want to buy something on the way and without cash, it gets difficult in rural areas.

  1. Respect local culture

During the trek, you will come across many charming villages with numerous cultures and traditions that might be new to you. Don’t do or say anything offensive to the locals. Make sure you respect everything that you witness.
